Description :

In a rare eco-tourism development project, the ‘Secret Lake’ in Hyderabad has been converted into an angler’s haven and leisure spot. Secret lake or Durgam Cheruvu is a fresh water lake spread over 83 acres which is located in Rangareddy district, Andhra Pradesh, India.

A promenade for the benefit of walkers to go round the lake has been created. An island formed with the excavation of moat around and connected by a wooden bridge has become a popular and ideal spot for small get-togethers and parties.

Terraced lawns and open-air restaurant ‘Something Fishy’ attract a good gathering in the evenings. There are pleasure boating facilities too. Apart from a restaurant and bar servicing fish and vegetarian specialties, there are food courts and an illuminated rock garden.

A fountain that floats in the middle of the lake and spouts water to a height of 60 feet has received tremendous response from the people enjoying boat rides. Durgam Cheruvu Lake is also known as Secret Lake as it is hidden between Jubilee Hills and Madhapur.

In the past i.e. 1518 -1687 at the time of Qutd Shahi dynasty, Durgam Cheruvu has served as the drinking water to the residents of Golconda Fort. And now local government in 2001 has taken steps to promote Durgam Cheruvu as tourist destination.

Places to see at Durgam Cheruvu: Boating, rock garden, floating fountain, 2km walk way. You can also find adventure activities like rock climbing, trekking, rappelling, art gallery and a sculptor park for those who are interested to work as artists.
