Bangalore Palace is located in Bangalore city, India which is the replica of a Castle in England called as Windsor Castle. The Castle was built by the first principal of the Central High School whose name is Rev. Garrett in Bangalore, which is now, has turned in to Central College.

The construction of Bangalore Palace was started in 1862 and it has been completed in the year of 1944.The palace building is spread in 45,000 sq feet. The palace was bought by the Chamaraja Wodeyar in the year 1873, who was the Maharaja of Mysore and it is now owned by Royal Family of Mysore, Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wodeyar.

Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wodeyar has in the year 2005 has decided to open the palace to the public for the maintenance costs of the palace which is about Rs. 20 lakh (approx $50,000) per annum.

The gallery is the special attraction of Bangalore Palace which has thousands of historical photos, carvings and paintings of maharajas and viceroys. The entrance of the palace has the real elephant’s head preserved in the chemicals.

Bangalore palace grounds have huge convention halls that can be hired for weddings and other functions. The Palace was rented to shoot Rajnikanth’s Chandramukhi movie.

Tourists from India are charged Rs. 175 and Foreigners are charged Rs. 350
Photography in the Palace: Rs. 500
Videotaping: Rs. 1,000

Timings to the Palace:
10Am to 6Pm
closed on Sundays.
