Later on a pleasant garden was made on this island.

In the year 1784, Shrimant sawai Madhavrao peshwa construct a little temple in sarasbaug and kept the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak Gajanan, the god he worshipped. Sarasbaug has now become a location of worship for people and devotees from all over the world and also a popular hang-out for punekars.
