The Mandir Shri Shila Devi Ji is located in the city Amer Fort, the city of jaipur in the state of rajasthan and was built in the year 1580 A.D by Maharaja Sawai Mansingh 1. In the temple goddess shila mata is worshipped. The road distance from the city jaipur to the temple is 10 kms and the nearest airport to the temple is sanganer which is 23km from Jaipur. The devotees can also travel by railway station which is about a distance of 15km from the temple to Jaipur.

At the end of sixteenth century, the goddess shila mata statue was brought by maharaja mansingh from the eastern parts of Bengal. Maharaja Mansingh acquired a defeat at the hands of king kedar, in the kingdom of pratapaditya.The goddess kali is worshipped by the maharaja to please her and to receive her blessings so as to change his defeat into victory. When the maharaja is sleeping kali has appeared in a dream to bless him. The goddess also obtained a promise from the maharaja that he would establish her enclose in his capital.

The idol of shila mata was recovered from sea in the form of slab and it was brought to amer when cleaned and washed, present idol appeared. This is because the goddess is named as shila mata. The mandir shri shila Devi ji belongs to the Shakti cult of Hindus who worship durga in many forms as goddess of power. Speckles workmanship has gone into the construction of the temple. Elegantly carved pillars, walls, panels show an intense depiction. Flowered patterns and life like impression in the carved work are magic which can be seen even today.

Highly extremely beautiful is the whole conception of the temple. The principles of vastu have made the temple an ideal work of architecture. The idol of durga called shila mata commands large respect of people. Tourists and devotees of all countries come to see the temples. On navaratras season, Special pooja is offered. The temple holds and important place as the idol of Devi durga is placed here.

The temple and the fort are on a hill covered with rich coverage. It is comfortable in the lap of Mother Nature. The surrounding hills of amer reflect when special pooja is offered and drums are beaten at that time. The people there find that moment a most memorable life time experience in Amer city. A huge tourist and visitors come every year to visit the temple.

In the twinkling half of the month of Chaitra and Ashwin, the first nine days are held sacred for ritualistic performances and religious practices at the temple. The devotees, especially in this holy and unfortunate period, offer special prayers at Mandir Shri Shila Devi Ji. For all the nine day (navaratras) invariant stream of tourists and other people of the city can be seen here at the temple of Devi Ji.
