Central Museum, also populated as the Indore Museum, is one of the most exciting buildings in Indore. Central Museum is a gratification for the people who are genuinely fascinated by the history of India and the rich civilization that increased here in the pre historic age. Central Museum is situated near the General Post Office in Indore. The Central Museum illustrates the finest collection of Parmar sculptures from Hinglajgarh. The Parmar style genuinely originated here only. Central Museumís main features constitute proportioned figures, careful and sophisticated ornamentation and depiction in stone.

The Central Museum(Indore Museum) also boasts one of the transcendent collections of medieval and pre-medieval Hindu and Jain sculpture in Madhya Pradesh. These sculptures who magnificiently carved the Central Museum and date back from the reign of the Guptas to the Paramanas. They have been possessed from the ruins of the 11th-12th century temples at Hinglajgarh. They usually characterize Harihara, Shiva and Parvati seated on Nandi, standing Parvati and a imperfect Chamunda. Amid the architectural remains conserved in the Central Museum, the most conspicuous is a doorframe, richly beautified with figures and ornamentation.

There are two galleries inside the Central Museum. Gallery 1 presents artifacts from MP's prehistoric period ranging from 5,000 - 4,000BC. There are exhibits from western Malwa also, that include stone tools, quartz sickles, ornaments and items of common use. All the Hindu legendary carvings have been presented in Gallery 2. The Central Museum is also well-known for its collection of coins, arms and armor. You can visit the Central Museum on all days excluding Monday between 10:00 am and 05:00pm. There is no admission fee as well as guides are also available for the convenience of the visitors.
